Jumbo for Sale
Once Upon a time there was a boy who bought a big stuff tiger at a Yard Sale for 10 cents. The boy named the large tiger “Jumbo” and loved him for many years, way to manny years. He loved the tiger so much that it was full of holes and leaked its insides out wherever it would go.
The tiger went everywhere the boy went. It follwoed him from house to house and room to room. It even moved all the way up to San Jose. One day the boy got married and his wife did not love the tiger in the same way, for she had not spent so many years with the tiger and didn’t know him nearly as well.
When the boy got married the tiger was banished to the closet where he lived for years in the solitude of darkness. The boy knew that he would have to part ways with the tiger someday but he naturaly resisted. First, he needed to find the right home. He needed to find another boy that would love the tiger just as much.
If a new boy was to take the tiger into his home he would have to be willing to part with 10 cents. It would have to be clear that the new boy would love the tiger just as much.
| So one day….A new boy spotted the tiger in the closet and wanted to play with it. The tiger was so happy to be out of the closet after so mnay years in solitude. After a day or two of boy and tiger bonding it was clear that the tiger had found a new home. | |
| but did the new boy have 10 cents? | |
| It appeard that he did. So the new boy bought the tiger, | |
| not for 10 cents but for 11. It seamed that there had been some inflation over the years. | |
| So the new boys mother saw that the tiger needed some emergency surgy after all of those years of being loved. So, she quickly pulled out a needle and thread and started emergency medical interventions. | |
| After a long day of playing and surgury the two new friends fell asleep on the livingroom floor. | |
| Almost all was well now. Except that the new boys father was not quite as excited as everyone else about the new house guest. Jumbo the tiger had a way of bothering people in that way with him throught the years. Not everyone can love a multi-decade old stuffed tiger. |
