So I’m always trying…

So I’m always trying to figure out more ways to blog, I get so bothered when I see people who have the time to sit around and type all day long and come up with elaborate posts and write a lot about G-d and spirituality in their life. I don’t have that kind of time to sit around and type or I just don’t like to write that much, I’m not sure which. It looks like I found a way that I might get to blog more, I found a service called jott I call phone number speak, its types out everything I say. If this works and I like it then maybe I will create a blog every day while I’m coming home from work during that 45 minute commute each way or if it doesn’t work my blog will stay as boring and stagnant as it was always has been.

Blog Clean up & New Stocking Opportunities

As you may have noticed I have been experimenting with a few different blogging technologies in an attempt to figure out how someone who is not an essayist participates in the blog space. I have found several blog alternatives that enable someone with the concentration of a gnat to participate in the blogsphere in some new ways.

Here is a rundown of the services I have found and started using.

TumblrI found another blogging idea for people who don’t like to type called tumblr. Tumblr lets you quickly post anything that you find on the web into a running log. This log is not quite a blog as it does not have any comments. The only function of a Tumble log is to say, “guess what I just saw”. To make a simple analogy: If blogs are journals, tumblelogs are scrapbooks. Mine is here

JaikuI also found twitter as I have mentioned before. It has been automatically littering my blog space for some time now with my random thoughts as I have them. I am cleaning up around here and will be removing all of the twitter posts. But do not fear stockers, through a comment someone left on my blog I ran into a somewhat of improved twitter called Jaiku. In addition to capturing my random thoughts that I send to Jaiku by computer or cell phone it also combines many of my web activities into a continuous running log (including Twitter). You may see my Jaiku log by clicking on the button on the side bar to see what I have been up to.

I know this may sound like way to much blog differentiation for some by I think that it will help me keep keep my blog space looking like a garbage dump if I separate things out a bit.

So what are you doing?

twitter.pngOk I now admit to being obsessed. I am Obsessed with twitter. I am convinced this is the next wave in blogging. Some are calling is micro blogging. I am calling it blogging for someone who has lots of short thoughts and wants to spit them out at random throughout the day.

There are several things that make this fun for me. One of my favorite features is that it is blogging for cell phones. Therefore all entries must be 140 characters or less. I thought that it would be difficult to get thoughts out is so few words but after 50+ posts I find it quite a bit easier than sitting down to write a long blog

It is a hard thing to figure out at first. Quite a strange concept. Here are a few links,
twitttervision
Twitterrific
and of course my twitter page.

Here is twitter in the New York Times

Try it. Stalk me (or I mean follow me ) . It is fun.

Wink @ Musee de l’Elysee

Wink GalleryOne of my images was shown at the the Musee de l’Elysee’s exhibit ‘We are all photographers now!’

This exhibit features participants from all over the world.
allphotographersnow.ch

The exhibition is up in Lausanne, Switzerland from February 8th, 2007 to May 20th, 2007.

The exhibition will attempt to shed light on many burning issues, among them:

  • Does the digital shift constitute a revolution, or merely an evolution?
  • Does the shift represent a real democratization of photography?
  • Is citizen photojournalism worthy of its name?
  • Does the shift threaten the livelihood of professional photographers in fundamental ways?
  • Does the shift represent a shift towards more authenticity or truthfulness — or less?
Is a true Casual Capture *on the horizon?

I Have been to a Church Where

Andrew Jones just linked to a site entitled Letters from Leavers. This website is a project created by Tim Bower and Jason Loftis who attend Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. The site part of a research project for Dr. John Drane’s course, Theology & Culture.

I just posted a letter about our last few years of church experience here. Much of my letter was originally composed as our introduction to the conversation that we hosted at the Soliton sessions. I thought this was a good forum to share some our of experiences on leaving church.

  2. What do you miss form the tradition you used to be a part of?
  3. What has been the most nourishing / difficult thing for you in this whole Soliton/ Emerging/ Alternative thing?
  4. What does the phrase Jesus is the way the truth and the life mean to you?

Sorry the video is so bad. It was very dark.

Walking the Streets and Rocky

Yesterday we spent time walking the streets of Belfast and looking at some fabulous shoes all the while getting acquainted with some of the town landmarks. Somewhere along the way another person scouring the streets of Belfast took the opportunity to liberate me from my wallet. Luckily it seems as though the only real need in that person’s life, once they had possessions of my credit cards, was to buy a bit of wine. I wish that I could have met them and perhaps shared a glass wine with them. I might have enjoyed that as well yesterday.

After the wallet liberation, we got to got to see Rocky Balboa at the City center movie house with acclaimed movie reviewer for the Irish times and author of the book How Movies Helped Save My Soul Gareth Higgins. Then we headed back to make a very stimulating movie review. enjoy.
