What do Coffee Farmers make from me
I have been drinking a lot of coffee lately and wondering what effect that has on the world.
I found this interisting quite in the Seatale University’s Paper:
According to statistics reported by Francisco Gutierrez, director for Cooperative Development, a second-tier organization of 3,000 small-holder farms, the average daily income of a coffee farmer is 50 cents. With fair trade, that number jumps to 74 cents, and if it is organic as well, it lies just under a dollar
I wonder what the effect of the other things that I eat drink and wear have on the world.

Yo Rob,
It’s probably like most other things. The manufacturer (farmer, in this case) doesn’t make much on products these days (not like the old industrial revolution days). Most of the money we spend on things these days goes to “distribution”. Yo know like Starbuck’s makes way more on the coffee than the farmer does. I heard recently that the “raw cost” to make a pair of ladies (or guys, for that matter) nylons is only about 10 cents; but we pay about $ 5.00, or so. It’s all about “middle man profits” these days. THE DAD GUY
yea but is that good or right when the people in the middle or the end make the majority of the profit?
Are we being fair to the rest of the world?
Should we make attempts to distribute our welth by making choices about what we buy?
